Biography

Thank you for visiting my web site…

I hope you find something which appeals to you here.
Creativity has been an important part of my life as long as I can remember. I have always seen the world in my own way and that way has been very clear to me, even if it has not been clear to others. As a teenager, I was encouraged to pursue a career which was practical, so I tried that and it didn’t work. In college, I quickly changed my major to interior design…a compromise between practical and creative. I have been working in that field on and off for the last 27 years and still have a consultant business with a business partner today. But interior design always had so many limitations for me. Finally, when I was about to turn 40, I gave myself permission to be an artist. And aside from my family, it has been the joy of my life.

I have always enjoyed the drawing and the creating which went along with interior design. Understanding and applying the elements and principles of design…which are also the elements and principles of art…has always been a focus in my work. Now, I am translating all of the wonderful things I learned and used in interior design to the freedom of expression art provides.

My paintings are an internal process which leans towards contemporary and abstract expression. Any number of things might inspire a painting, but often it is something from within which is not really explainable. The process for me is important. I am also interested in what a viewer might see in any of my work and encourage their participation in hanging a painting in the way it is most appealing to them. The way I paint it is not the most important for the purchaser…it is how it is viewed.

I will continue to paint while you continue to visit my web site to see if anything speaks to you. Feel free to email me with any questions or inquiries.
